RA Sushi, Houston Review
My friends and I met at Ra last night for dinner- my first time there. I frequent Japanese and Sushi Restaurants in Houston often, both here in Houston and other cities as I travel alot. This place is designed for the see and be seen middle aged yuppie crowd- overflowing with slightly portly extremely bleached women wearing overly tight clothing and boring drunk khaki pant corporate doofs. The interior is posh and interesting- large space- thursday night- the really aweful reject songs from the 80's music as well as trashy 90's crass rap music is blaring so loud you can't carry a conversation with the person sitting next to you. I arrived late- my friends already seated with drinks and appetizer, the waitress came by to deliver more food- looked right at me and walked off- not even asking if I would like to order anything. We nicknamed her A.D.D. as she was never at our table more than 10 seconds and walked off constantly before we could finish our requests. We were brought the wrong food constantly and she kept pulling out the wrong ticket when we asked about our incorrect orders. The food was very bland and very very small portions- compared to other local places like Osaka and Zake. We went without water for most of the evening as they failed to come by for refills ...and the waitress never offered to split our checks- we were a large table. We forced her too .... she took forever with our food and our bill- made way too many mistakes and seemed to not really care about the service at our table. I would never come here again. Too bad she added gratuity into our check- I would not have tipped her. Appearantly this place is known for bad service. Not worth it for the pricey food. If you like trendy see and be seen places- I'd only go to this place for drinks at the bar- but then again- the music was so aweful- I'd go somewhere else.
I say go check out Houston Asian Restaurants Guide for a great guide to dining in Houston.
